In Halvane, nothing exists until it is rung. Nine hundred years ago the Mother Bell of Ashmere was struck for the first time, and every river, law and name in the world answered. Since then an order of smiths called the Bellwrights has kept the Bell in tune, and with it, reality.
Forty years ago, on the Night of the Wrong Note, the Mother Bell cracked. Ever since, the Hush has spread out of the fracture: white, soundless storms that erase whatever they cover. Towns forget their own names. Rivers stop. People walk into the fog and are never remembered.
You are Wren Callow, the last Bellwright alive. The Choir Ascendant want to recast the Bell from living voices. The Hushed believe silence is mercy. Whoever reaches the Bell first decides whether Halvane is rung back into being, or allowed to go quiet forever.
Central conflictRecast the cracked Mother Bell, or let the Hush end the world in peace.
